Cool performance with buses and trucks

SOLVARO increases sales in buses and trucks sector by 75%

More and more manufacturers of buses are equipping their vehicles with SOLVARO ventilation grilles.

Kirchheim/Teck, May 2019: SOLVARO GmbH, a supplier of ventilation grilles made of perforated metal, has managed a particularly good start to the new financial year. For the buses and trucks division, the company has registered a growth of approximately 75% compared to the previous year. What is particularly pleasing for the Kirchheim-based company is that its ventilation grilles are also being used in the manufacturers“ forward-looking e-models.

Engineering makes waves and supplies new customers

Thanks to good engine cooling, buses and trucks can save on fuel. To this end, more and more manufacturers are opting for the SOLVARO ventilation grilles, by which a stable temperature is achieved in the engines. According to Gerhard Bullinger, managing director of SOLVARO, there is also a reason for this: „The positive growth in the buses and trucks division can be directly traced back to what we offer in the engineering department,“ he says. For instance, the Polish manufacturer, SOLARIS Bus & Coach S. A., also counts on very early collaboration when developing its components. The result is currently a part produced from 1.2 mm thick sheet steel, whose trapezoidal shape offers especially good stability. Hence these grilles also shield the engine from dirt and flying stones without compromising on the amount of air circulating inside. And not only is the air inside not reduced, the hexagonal 6.5-7.3 perforation actually achieves very good air permeability of 80% even when flat sheet metal is used. Now, however, a wave-like shape developed by the SOLVARO engineering department is also coming into play. It increases the air-permeable area of the parts even more, further adding to the overall ventilation. Not least, CDP and powder coating ensure that the grilles stay rust-free over the long term.

Cool air is also in high demand for electric vehicles

Whether it is a conventional, CNG (gas), hybrid or modern electric drive, none of them work without cooling air. The performance of batteries depends on the temperature just as much as that of engines. Consequently, the SOLVARO grilles are also used to cool the batteries in electric vehicles. Although the quantities of the SOLVARO parts for alternative drive systems still lag behind those for conventionally powered vehicles, the company is thrilled that the grilles are being used in the forward-looking models of several leading manufacturers. „For our developers it is a compliment and of course a great task when our customers call for ideas and our expertise when it comes to developing their new models,“ Bullinger reports. Not surprised by the good start to the year, SOLVARO, by its own admission, has already made a few investments that will secure corresponding capacities in its production over the long term.

SOLVARO – Manufacturer of individual industrial plate components

SOLVARO’s expert team from engineering, development and production listens to its customers. The result of this collaboration, coupled with a wide range of production technologies, is individual and innovative components. These may be used in agricultural and construction machinery, buses and server cabinets, for example.
