3D laser machine at Solvaro delivers accurate trimming of deep-drawn components

Perfect interplay for precise components

At Solvaro, three robots speed up the laser-cutting process.

At the plate component manufacturer Solvaro, a combination of robots and lasers results in speed and process reliability in the manufacture of deep-drawn components such as air grilles for agricultural and construction machinery. The company“s 100 m2 3D laser machine features no less than three automatic co-workers that see to the uninterrupted processing of the parts which are cut into shape by the laser.

No corrective work necessary
Components that have been deep-drawn can then be trimmed in a 3D laser machine. This offers a wide array of advantages. No expensive cutting tools are needed, and this makes the processing of small batches economical. The set-up times are also short when switching between the component types being processed. But the most important factor is the highly accurate cutting execution, which makes Solvaro“s laser machine especially reliable. With the company often producing assembly parts, this is very important, since the individual parts must fit precisely when put together. „The time-consuming and costly corrective work often required when the components are deep-drawn after being cut is completely eliminated by our 3D machine,“ confirms Managing Director Gerhard Bullinger. The machine is primarily used to manufacture air grilles for agricultural and construction machinery such as the Kubota M7-171 tractor.

Robots increase the speed
No less than three Kawasaki robots working alternately make sure that the machine is continuously fed. Once a component has been picked up by a robot, it can be tackled from any conceivable angle. Flexibility is increased even further by a movable cutting head. In fact, it moves around so swiftly and delicately that it can even cope with very short operational stages such as cutting holes – without requiring the robots to move. Up to 300 components are cut into shape during each shift. The 100 m2 machine is operated by an employee behind a protective wall, who can supervise everything live thanks to a series of cameras. Gerhard Bullinger is happy: „We have now added laser finishing to our repertoire, as the perfect complement to our extensive expertise in the area of deep drawing perforated metal.“

SOLVARO – Manufacturer of individual industrial plate components
SOLVARO’s expert team from engineering, development and production listens to its customers. The result of this collaboration, coupled with a wide range of production technologies, is individual and innovative components. These may be used in agricultural and construction machinery, buses and server cabinets, for example.
