Ghana: Increasing imports of food processing and packaging machinery and equipment

Against the background of ever increasing imports of machinery and equipment to Ghana and West Africa the German trade show specialists fairtrade organise agrofood West Africa 2015. The 3rd edition of the International Trade Show on Agriculture, Food, Beverage & Packaging Technology and Food, Beverages & Hospitality takes place from 1 to 3 December 2015 at the Accra International Convention Centre. Top brands and national pavilions from China, France and India are to profit from this professional platform for Ghana and West Africa.

According to GTAI – Germany Trade & Invest and VDMA, imports of food processing and packaging machinery and equipment to Ghana have been increasing with a CAGR of 16.5 percent over the past five years. Investments were mainly made by producers of alcoholic beverages, such as SABMiller, Guiness-Breweries in Accra, Kasapreko and Distell from South Africa.

Potential in the agricultural sector exists in the cultivation of fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers) in greenhouses for local supermarkets. Also large farms for yams, rice, cassava and maize, as well as the cultivation of tropical fruits for European supermarkets seem to be profitable investments.

International top brands like Bosch, Cargill, Döhler and KHS as well as national pavilions from China, France & India have realized the market potential on the promising agrofood market in Ghana and West Africa and have already reserved their exhibition space at agrofood West Africa 2015.

To create valuable synergies for exhibitors and visitors alike, agrofood West Africa is held in conjunction with plastprintpack West Africa, the 3rd International Trade Show on Plastics and Printing & Packaging Solutions and Material. Both events take place concurrently from 1 -3 December 2015 at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra, Ghana.
