FRIMO at Composites Europe

Complete solutions from one single source
FRIMO at Composites Europe

With more than 30 years of experience, FRIMO is one of the leading technology providers in the field of fibre-reinforced composites processing. The biggest German trade fair for lightweight construction and composite materials is being held in Stuttgart from 27 – 29 September 2011, and FRIMO will be there to present its full range of manufacturing solutions for composites, from individual tools and machines to complete turnkey solutions.

Appearing at the trade fair together in partnership with Schuler, FRIMO will show professional visitors a spectrum of products and services covering the full process chain for the machining of fibre-reinforced composites. That includes tools, machinery and equipment along with automation solutions and services for the machining and post-processing of composites made from all standard reinforcement fibres in combination with thermoplastic and duromer matrices.

Along with classic natural-, glass-, basalt- and wood-fibre composites, more and more carbon-fibre reinforced plastics are being used in full-scale production applications. Constantly growing demands for electromobility and lightweight construction are significantly increasing the share of CFRP components in the automotive industry – and that also includes series production vehicles in particular.

With more than 1,500 pre-preg, preform and RTM moulds delivered and a series of preform, natural fibre-moulding and RTM machines which are already in series production operation, FRIMO has built a solid reputation on a large number of successful projects. Well-known OEMs and top Tier suppliers use FRIMO equipment to manufacture their lightweight components. No matter whether it involves highly complex monocoque applications made of CFRP or wing components for aircraft: the company“s references range from the aerospace industry to series production passenger cars and the rail vehicle sector to sports and recreation applications, including water sports. Applications in the area of commercial vehicles and in the agricultural machinery sector complete the spectrum.

These tools and equipment from FRIMO feature a large degree of automation, which, together with high reproducibility, ensures short cycle times and the efficient use of material. For lightweight construction applications under large-scale production conditions, FRIMO is able to satisfy customer demands for complete solutions through its partnership with Schuler.
In its competence centres, the FRIMO Group provides its customers with a wide range of capabilities for analysing materials relative to the manufacturing process, designing tools and equipment for prototypes and series production, and fabricating prototypes and pre-series parts.
The spectrum of services ranges from pre-forming and pre-cutting to the actual moulding or forming process, e.g. for the processing of RTM components or Organo plastic sheets. For post-processing, FRIMO not only supplies solutions for flexible trimming of fibre-composite components, but also provides the corresponding plastic joining technology right through to component assembly. And these manufacturing installations are optimally tailored to the different production processes, e.g. RRIM, SRIM/GMPU, Long Fibre Injection, CFRP, GMT, LFT, BMC, SMC and RTM. Depending on the customer requirements and the degree of automation, FRIMO also takes care of the complete handling system and system integration.
The FRIMO Group includes global production and sales locations with more than 1,100 employees in Europe, Asia and America, and numerous distributors around the world. FRIMO companies have been recognized repeatedly for outstanding performance. FRIMO has earned the SPE awards known as the „Plastics Oscars“ 15 times already. As a partner in a development consortium with TTT The Team Composite AG, FRIMO was honoured for a CFRP lightweight trailer design concept at the JEC Composites Show in 2010. FRIMO“s portfolio for the plastics processing industries covers an extremely wide range of processes for PU processing along with flexible cutting, punching, pressing and forming, as well as thermoforming, laminating, edge folding, joining and bonding. FRIMO offers its customers tailor-made tools, machinery and systems as separate or turnkey solutions from a single source.
