plast & printpack alger 2012

(Heidelberg, Germany) A rise of Algerian imports in plastics machinery by 38 per cent, in packaging machines by 36 per cent and in printing equipment by 48 per cent in 2012. It is against this background, that Algeria“s 3rd international trade fair for the plastics industry, plast alger, and the 4th printpack alger for the printing and packaging technology takes place. This international industry meeting is organised by the trade fair specialists fairtrade and their German-Algerian team. The Palais des Expositions – SAFEX in Algiers opens its gates for exhibitors and trade visitors from 6 to 8 April 2014.

„According to VDMA-The German Engineering Association, exports of plastics machinery to Algeria have increased in 2012 by 38 per cent to 99.8 million US dollars,“ says Martin März, CEO of the show organiser fairtrade. März further: „Algeria has become the fourth major importer in this field on the African continent, ranking just behind South Africa, Egypt and Nigeria. This increase reflects the enormous potential of one of the world“s major oil and gas producer.“

The continuously growing import figures for the last three years show that this is a sustainable development of the Algerian industry. The main suppliers of plastics machinery to Algeria are Germany, China, France, Italy, Canada, Austria, Taiwan, Spain and Switzerland.

In imports of packaging and printing technology Algeria is now even third place in Africa, ahead of Nigeria, and just behind South Africa and Egypt. The Algerian imports of packaging machinery went up from 139.2 million US dollars in 2011 to 189.6 million in 2012, an increase of 36 per cent. Imports of printing technology have even risen in the same period by 48.4 per cent, from 67.7 to 92.7 million US dollars.

Due to the large demand for exhibition space plast & printpack alger 2014 move to a larger hall within the exhibition centre in Algiers. The new venue is the Pavilion A, the so called French pavilion. It offers a central location and the larger area and it also has the advantage that plast & printpack alger can obtain their own areas each.

According to the organisers the high demand is justified with the success of the last edition in 2012. The 104 exhibitors from 17 countries were extremely satisfied with the quality of the 2,388 trade visitors.

For the 2014 edition Dominik Rzepka, Marketing and Public Relations Manager at fairtrade, expects a renewed increase in the quantity and quality of visitors. Reasons for this are further increasing momentum on the Algerian market, the strong institutional support in Algeria as well as close cooperation with major European partners such as the AHK Algeria – German-Algerian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Austrian Chamber of Commerce Advantage Austria, the Milan Chamber of Commerce Promos and the Spanish Plastics Federation AVEP.
